MacTape supplies the complete tesa® 8864 double-coated tissue tape series (88641 / 88642 / 88643 / 88644) as a certified tesa distributor and converter. Built on a conformable non-woven (tissue) carrier with a tackified acrylic adhesive, 8864 is the go-to general-purpose mounting tape for name plates, POS displays, foam and textile lamination, control panels and membrane switches.
We hold every thickness in stock, cut to any shape or size, with samples in 24 hours and shipment in 48 hours — minimum order quantity of just 1 piece. All converting is done in a cleanroom / dust-free environment to guarantee burr-free, dimensionally precise parts.
Variant | Total Thickness | Adhesive | Backing | Liner | Color | Key Trait |
tesa® 88641 | 100 µm | Tackified acrylic | Tissue (non-woven) | PE-coated paper | Translucent | Conformable, easy-release liner |
tesa® 88642 | 120 µm | Tackified acrylic | Tissue (non-woven) | PE-coated paper | Translucent | Good on polar & some non-polar surfaces |
tesa® 88643 | 140 µm | Tackified acrylic | Tissue (non-woven) | PE-coated paper | Translucent | Conformable, permanent bonding |
tesa® 88644 | 160 µm | Tackified acrylic | Tissue (non-woven) | PE-coated paper | Translucent | Best holding power at elevated temp, anti-repulsion |
Typical performance (representative, 88641 class):
Property | Value |
Adhesion to Steel (initial / after 3 d) | ~9.1 / 10.9 N/cm |
Adhesion to ABS (initial / after 3 d) | ~12.9 / 14.8 N/cm |
Adhesion to Glass (initial / after 3 d) | ~12.0 / 13.7 N/cm |
Adhesion to PC (initial / after 3 d) | ~12.9 / 15.0 N/cm |
Adhesion to PP (initial / after 3 d) | ~2.0 / 4.9 N/cm |
Adhesion to PE (initial / after 3 d) | ~3.1 / 4.0 N/cm |
Temperature resistance (long term) | up to 80 °C |
Temperature resistance (short term) | up to 110 °C |
Note: Adhesion values vary slightly by thickness within the series. Low surface energy (LSE) substrates such as PP/PE show lower initial peel — validate with a test piece before production.
Certified source — genuine tesa® material from an authorized distributor and converter; no grey-market stock.
One-stop thickness coverage — all four 8864x grades stocked, so you are not locked into a single gauge.
Precision die-cutting — high-accuracy tooling delivers tight dimensional tolerance with clean, burr-free edges; shape and size are not limited.
Cleanroom environment — dust-free converting protects sensitive assemblies (electronics, medical, optical).
Speed — 24 h sample turnaround, 48 h shipment for standard configurations.
Low MOQ — start at 1 piece; scale to volume without re-qualification.
Name plate & advertising nameplate mounting (metal, ABS, acrylic)
POS / retail display assembly
Foam, felt & textile lamination
Control panel & membrane switch mounting
Acrylic sheet and sign bonding
Envelope and lightweight sealing
Its conformability makes it especially suitable for curved and uneven surfaces where rigid adhesives fail.
MacTape converts tesa® 8864 to your exact requirement:
Any dimension — custom roll widths, lengths, sheets
Any geometry — kiss-cut, steel-rule or laser die; irregular and micro shapes
Multi-layer / multi-material — combine with foam, PET, release liners as needed
Cleanroom grade — particulate-controlled converting
MOQ 1 PC, volume pricing on scale
Sample in 24 h, shipment in 48 h for standard specs
Send us your drawing, CAD file, or a physical sample — we return a quoted, die-cut prototype fast.
Surface preparation
Bonding surface must be clean, dry, free of dust and oil, and flat (no high/low spots).
Environment
Apply at room temperature; avoid low temperature, high humidity, and dusty sites.
Application steps
Align the tape to the target position.
Press firmly to ensure full surface contact with no air gaps.
Apply even pressure across the whole part.
Curing
Allow 24 hours of rest to reach maximum bond strength; avoid pulling or water exposure during this window.
Substrate compatibility
Works on metal, plastic, acrylic, paper, rubber and other common materials.
For low surface energy (LSE) substrates, run a pre-test before production.
MOQ: 1 piece (prototyping) — volume pricing available
Lead time: 24 h sample / 48 h shipment (standard); volume runs quoted per PO
Customization: width, length, shape, liner, multi-layer builds
Production: cleanroom / dust-free converting
Shipping: global delivery from Shenzhen; carton packaging; flexible incoterms (EXW / FOB / CIF)
Quality: batch traceability, COA / conformance support on request
1. What is tesa® 8864 made of? A non-woven (tissue) carrier coated on both sides with a tackified acrylic adhesive, supplied on a PE-coated paper release liner. It is a translucent, double-coated general-purpose mounting tape.
2. Which thickness should I choose — 100, 120, 140 or 160 µm? Use thinner grades (100–120 µm) for flat, smooth parts and name plates; choose 140–160 µm (especially 88644) when you need higher gap-filling, elevated-temperature holding power, or anti-repulsion performance.
3. Can you die-cut to custom shapes, and what is the MOQ? Yes. We support any size and shape, including irregular and complex dies. MOQ is 1 piece — ideal for prototyping and pilot runs.
4. Is the tape genuine tesa®? Yes. MacTape is a certified tesa distributor and converter. Material is genuine tesa® 8864 with full traceability.
5. What substrates does it bond to? Will it work on PP/PE? It bonds strongly to polar surfaces (steel, aluminum, ABS, PC, glass, acrylic). On low surface energy plastics like PP and PE initial adhesion is lower — we recommend a pre-production test.
6. What temperature can it withstand? Long-term service up to ~80 °C, short-term peaks up to ~110 °C, with good holding power at elevated temperature (best in the 88644 grade).
7. How fast can I get samples and production? Samples are typically provided within 24 hours and shipment within 48 hours for standard configurations. Volume lead times are quoted per order.
