3M 580C-10 commercial grade reflective film is purpose-built for high-durability outdoor marking applications and is widely used across infrastructure, transportation and heavy industry:
Traffic Signs Truck Fleet Graphics Construction Vehicles Railway Signage Mining Equipment Industrial Safety Signs Parking Lot Signs Custom Chevron Markings Barricade & Work Zone Signs
While prismatic (micro-prismatic) reflective films offer higher brightness at wide angles, commercial grade glass bead reflective film remains the most versatile and cost-effective choice for a broad range of fleet and infrastructure applications:
Excellent cost-performance ratio — delivers reliable night-time visibility at a lower total cost than diamond grade films, making it ideal for large-area coverage and high-volume fleet wraps.
Wide angularity performance — performs consistently well within standard traffic observation angles, meeting the requirements of most municipal and commercial fleet standards.
Superior printability — the uniform glass bead surface accepts screen printing inks, UV-curable inks and latex inks evenly, allowing for crisp, legible text and high-contrast graphics.
Proven track record — 3M 580C-10 is one of the most widely specified commercial grade reflective sheeting products in North America and Asia-Pacific, with millions of square metres installed on roads, vehicles and buildings.
We support both screen printing and HP Latex / UV digital printing. From raw material selection through to the finished marking, every step is carried out in strict accordance with international traffic safety standards, ensuring consistent reflectivity, color fastness and adhesion. Our in-house processes include:
Slitting — precise width control for roll goods and panel production.
Die-cutting / Kiss-cutting — custom shapes, letters, numbers and logos with tight tolerances.
Screen Printing — thick ink layer for maximum abrasion and weather resistance on large-volume orders.
UV / Latex Digital Printing — ideal for high-mix, low-volume runs and complex gradient designs.
Quality Inspection — multi-point sampling and functional testing throughout production.
Packaging — protective packaging with clear labeling for safe delivery.
Spray bottle (clean water + a small amount of dish soap), squeegee, clean lint-free cloth, utility knife, hair dryer or heat gun, measuring tape and masking tape.
Surface preparation. Thoroughly clean the application area with isopropyl alcohol or a mild detergent solution. Remove all oil, wax, dust and loose particles. Ensure the surface is completely dry.
Dry lay (recommended for complex graphics). Position the pre-cut reflective marking on the surface without removing the release liner to verify fit and alignment.
Wet application. Lightly spray diluted soapy water on the surface. This lubrication allows repositioning and prevents premature adhesion.
Apply the film. Peel off the release liner, carefully align the marking and lay it flat onto the wet surface.
Squeegee out water and bubbles. Working from the centre outward with firm, overlapping strokes, squeegee evenly to expel all water and air pockets.
Trim and finish edges. Use a hair dryer on low heat to soften corners and edges, press firmly into place, and trim excess with a sharp utility knife.
Cure time. Avoid high-pressure washing, heavy rain and direct intense sun for 24–48 hours so the pressure-sensitive adhesive fully bonds to the substrate.
Do not install in ambient temperatures below +10°C or on surfaces hotter than +40°C.
Avoid stretching or distorting the reflective film during application; this will impair retroreflective performance.
If small air bubbles remain after squeegeeing, pierce with a fine needle and re-squeegee.
Clean reflective surfaces with a neutral detergent and a soft cloth. Avoid abrasive cleaners, solvents or harsh chemicals that may damage the glass bead surface or the graphic ink layer.
For applications on irregular or textured surfaces, consult our technical team for primer recommendations.
At MACTAPE, quality, safety and environmental responsibility are at the core of our manufacturing process. Our comprehensive range of adhesive and reflective materials is fully backed by internationally recognized certifications, including UL, CSA, ISO, MCS, SGS and CE.
3M 580C-10 reflective sheeting complies with major international traffic safety standards including ASTM D4956 (Standard Specification for Retroreflective Sheeting) and EN 12899 (Permanent road markings). It is also compatible with MUTCD (Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices) requirements for traffic sign applications in the United States and many other jurisdictions.
